A speakers list for your association's general meeting
At a general meeting, lots of people want to say something, and the chair has to keep track of it all. With TalkingStick, members put themselves on the speakers list from their phone. The chair gives the floor and the room sees whose turn it is.

Sound familiar?
The treasurer presents the budget and ten hands go up. The secretary tries to keep a list on paper. Halfway through, someone asks if he wasn't first, and a member at the back has been skipped three times. Whoever joins online doesn't get a word in at all.
That's not ill will, it's just hard to keep track. TalkingStick does that work, so the chair can focus on what is being said.
A general meeting with TalkingStick
-
Before the meeting the board makes a room for the association and puts the meeting in it. The link with the code goes out with the invitation or is shown on the screen in the room.
-
On arrival members open the link and type their name. The chair or secretary lets them in, so only members get on the list.
-
During an agenda item members sign up with a question or a comment. It sits under the topic it is about.
-
The chair gives the floor in the order of the list. Whoever's turn it is sees it on their own screen, with the speaking time.
-
A point of order shows in red on the list, so the chair doesn't miss it.
Questions
Can members who join online sign up too?
Yes. They use the same link and land on the same list as the people in the room. For sound and video you use your own video call.
Can anyone with the link just join?
No. Whoever opens the link types a name and waits until the chair or secretary lets them in.
Can you vote with it?
No, TalkingStick is only for the speakers list. You vote the way you are used to.
What does it cost?
Nothing, while it is in testing. If a paid version comes later, you will hear well in advance.
Do older members need to install an app?
No, it works in the browser of any phone, tablet or laptop. Opening a link is enough.
Would your group use this?
TalkingStick is new. Whether I turn it into a complete product depends on your answer. It's three questions.
